Tips: If you’re shopping at Costco
Get the frozen farmed salmon, and defrost them. If you can’t defrost them, I will give alternate instructions.
For Kosher marinara, Go for Kirkland. It’s cheap and does a great job.
Most Costco Locations sells Ghee and Avacado Oil
Not all locations sell Nestos Grilled Peppers, but they come inside a jar if you’re looking for them. Bell peppers will be great aswell, but the flavor won’t be as strong.
Not all costco locations sell Maldon’s Sea Salt flakes, you will find them in the spices section. If they don’t sell it, you can use any salt.
Cooking Instructions
1: Warm the skillet
Put enough Ghee or Avacado Oil to generously cover the bottom of the skillet. Put the skillet on High Heat. (9 / 10 on the dial)
2: Open You Salmon Fillets
Basically just prepare your salmon fillets by opening the packaging. If you have skin, feel free to leave it on.
3: Start Searing the Salmon
The salmon should sear on one side for 3 - 5 minutes. Feel free to sear as you like. We are trying to develop a nice crust on the bottom of the salmon for texture and flavor. Make sure not to cook the salmon all the way, the top should clearly be raw.
4: Prepare your Veggies
You while your salmon is searing, start chopping your veggies. All the veggies you like you use, just put as much as you want, the more the better.
5: Turn the heat down
Turn the heat down to Medium low (4 / 10 on the dial). Add your marinara sauce to the skillet. And the veggies on top. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 5 - 10 minutes.
6: Serve
Once the veggies are cooked, and the salmon is cooked to your liking, you can serve it. Add a squeeze of lemon juice, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Serve with your favorite side, and enjoy!
Recipe Alterations for Frozen Salmon
You will not be able to get a good sear on the Salmon when they are frozen. So instead of cooking the salmon on high heat right away, skip to the cooking steps when you cook the salmon slowly and add extra time for it to thaw. The main reason you don’t want to cook the salmon fozen on high heat right away is that it will cause the salmon to dry out. Crispy is great, as long as the salmon is still juicy. But because its frozen, the center will not cook, while the outside will be dry.
